I intend this to be a general open thread for you to share your voting experience this morning.
I voted in rural Missouri. I arrived as the polls opened and there was already a line. This is a good sign in my community; there are always a few early birds but this was a good sized group. I was greeted at the door by an overly buoyant Republican poll observer who I did not recognize. The poll worker checked my ID and said “you’re good” and the observer immediately “jokingly” said “how do you know.” The poll worker, a university student, was clearly already annoyed with him and the polls had literally just opened for voting. I was impressed with her ability to tune him out.
The line moved quickly and I voted on a range of candidates and issues (there is a lot on the ballot in Missouri). I was disheartened to see that all of the local Republican officials were running unopposed. All of them. Some of them are neighbors and friends, but I was still frustrated to see no Democratic representation on the ballot.
No problem processing my ballot and I grabbed my “I Voted” sticker.
I am cautiously optimistic that it is going to be a great day!
