There are no two ways around it. Either Donald Trump is very, very extremely, badly ill, or else Gabe Sherman at Vanity Fair or his sources are lying. Today’s motorcade stunt adds compelling proof.
Gabe Sherman at Vanity Fair says—
Three sources said Trump argued with his doctors on Friday after they told him he needed to be moved to Walter Reed. “He didn’t want to go to the hospital a month before the election,” a Republican close to Trump told me. Two sources said doctors gave Trump an ultimatum: he could go to the hospital while he could still walk, or doctors would be forced to take him in a wheelchair or on a stretcher at a later point if his health deteriorated. “They told him, ‘You can go now or we’re taking you later and it’s non negotiable,’” a second source close to the White House said. Trump waited to leave for the hospital until the stock market closed on Friday, a source said.
For me, that story, plus today’s Presidential motorcade stunt in Bethesda, Maryland, provide a crystal clear confirmation of the true nature and extent of Donald John Trump’s extremely grave Covid-19 infection. Forget trying to piece the story together from incomplete medical briefings and speculating based upon fragments of disclosures about medications and treatments being used. Forget straining to pull apart the veil of lies carefully draped over every thing about this President. The report from Gabe Sherman plus what anyone sees looking at the video of the motorcade, plus a simple assumption everyone should agree upon, combine to disclose that Trump, less than a week after becoming symptomatic, has become so infirm that he cannot, physically, do more than sit and wave. Forget walking, public speaking, etc. Forget golf. Forty-eight hours after walking from the White House to Marine One, Trump can do little more than sit up and wave his tiny hands.
This conclusion assumes that Donald Trump wants everyone to think he’s as hale and hearty as usual. Of course, he does. So if puts on any demonstration, sort of a proof of health, we can expect him to make the best possible show, of it. That is Trump’s core skill, putting on a show. If Trump could walk, without looking ill, or speak for any extended time, or otherwise show his continuing vigor, despite his infection, that is what he would be showing us. Instead, he makes a tiktok length Twitter speech and sits in a car and waves for a few minutes. If Trump really wanted to show how well he’s doing, he would have had that limo take him to the nearest golf driving range so he could hit a few balls. Instead, he sits in a car and waves for a few minutes.
If that’s the best Trump can do, he is very, very ill and still getting sicker. Confusion and lack of transparency about his status are no longer a problem. We know for sure how poorly he is doing. The President is very much more sick than he wants anyone to know as he gets sicker. But, with characteristic ineptness, the silly and dangerous motorcade outed Trump’s own lies and put his actual condition out there for everyone to see.
- Last Tuesday Trump was healthy enough to debate Joe Biden.
- Last Wednesday Trump was healthy enough to have a shortened campaign rally in Minnesota.
- Last Thursday Trump was healthy enough to have a private fundraiser at one of his resorts.
- Last Friday Trump was healthy enough to walk to Marine One.
- Yesterday Trump and his doctors threw a smoke screen around his health status.
- Today, Trump made a minute long video and sat in a car a waved for a few minutes.
- What won’t Trump be able to do tomorrow.
Some will see this as good news and others will view Trump’s obviously declining health as terrible news. But it is no longer unclear news. We now have full transparency and all that remains is whether the President recovers or dies.
