I honestly feel that I have fallen into a rabbit hole and have joined Alice in an Adventure in Wonderland.
Like Alice, I feel like I’m swimming through my own tears as I watch our wonderful Republic slowly disintegrating into a third world country or a Banana Republic.
Stunned, I sat in front of the television and watched the Republican nominee for president threaten to have Hillary Clinton jailed if he became President.
The next day, Donald Trump read what he claimed was a WikiLeaks document, but it was a document knowingly falsified by the Russian government that stated that a close Clinton friend confessed that Clinton was responsible for the tragedy of Benghazi (eight, count them, eight investigations could find no proof that she was responsible and the Republicans controlled two of the committees).
I then listened to a tirade by Trump where he claimed that we don’t know for sure if Russia was trying to interfere with our election or not. Evidently, the president of Russia told Trump that he didn’t hack the Clinton campaign’s emails. This was good enough for Trump even though our government is assured Russia is hacking into Americans’ email accounts, trying to influence our election by getting Trump elected.
Maybe Trump didn’t believe our government because he still believes that our president was born in Kenya. But then, maybe he, like Alice, came upon a caterpillar smoking a hookah while sitting on a mushroom, and the caterpillar told him that Putin didn’t falsify the email.
It is likely that the caterpillar shared what it was smoking in the hookah and that was why Trump was sniffing so much during the last debate, something he also did during the first.
In some ways, I feel sorry for Donald Trump. As a teacher, I know this man very well. I know how he behaved in high school. He was a big kid and he learned how to be a big bully, something that worked for him very well⎯so much so that the rest of his life he continued to be a bully, trying to tell his sad story of Trump in Wonderland to anybody who’d listen.
Like Alice, I’m insulted and tired of being bombarded with dumb riddles to solve from Donald Trump. Like Alice, I believe that this is the stupidest tea party I’ve ever been to! I want my democracy and my wonderful Republic back again.
