In other election news (all from www.msnbc.com/...)
HuffPost had a good catch yesterday, reporting, “In a newly discovered video, former Rep. Yvette Herrell (R-N.M.) said in 2020 that she wished her state had banned abortion entirely ― a sharp contrast to her efforts to appear more measured on abortion issues ahead of the November election, when she is hoping to regain her old seat in Congress.”
In Alabama’s 2nd congressional district, Democrat Shomari Figures and Republican Caroleene Dobson won their party’s respective primaries yesterday and will face off in the fall. As the Associated Press reported, this is a district that was “redrawn by a federal court to boost the voting power of Black residents.
Democratic candidates won two state legislative special elections in Michigan yesterday, and once they’re sworn in, Democrats will regain control of the chamber. Headed into this week, Michigan’s state House has been deadlocked for months, with each party holding 54 seats.

Previously, House Republicans authorized two articles of impeachment against the Secretary alleging that he committed high crimes and misdemeanors in relation to his actions at the southern border. Today, after the articles were officially transmitted to the United States Senate, Democrats successfully dismissed the articles.

Trump campaign tells GOP candidates he's taking a cut of their cash if they use his name www.rawstory.com/…
The campaign for Donald Trump's 2024 presidential bid has come up with a new way to raise cash — which involves calling on down-ballot candidates who use his name and likeness in fundraising pushes to give him a cut of the money they raise.
Beginning tomorrow, we ask that all candidates and committees who choose to use President Trump’s name, image, and likeness split a minimum of 5% of all fundraising solicitations to Trump National Committee JFC. This includes, but is not limited to, sending to the house file, prospecting vendors, and advertising,” Trump co-campaign managers Susie Wiles and Chris LaCivita wrote in a letter reported on by Politico.
[And get this little nugget]
Any split that is higher than 5% will be seen favorably by the RNC and President Trump’s campaign and is routinely reported to the highest levels of leadership within both organizations," the letter added.
