Tonight I got a typical fundraising e-mail for Sen. Gillibrand, a candidate for President. The e-mail focused on her successful effort to remove her colleague, Sen. Al Frankin, from the Senate because of his record of sexist jokes and junior high school type sexist antics.
I hope somebody in her campaign takes note of the social media response. The vast majority of respondents on Facebook and elsewhere resent the way that Gillibrand acted as judge, jury and executioner against Frankin. Some of us are tired of the fact that Democrats desert thier leaders upon the first hint of a Republican dirty trick. I think it’s called, by Rethugs, “ratfucking.” My candidate for President in 1988, Gary Hart, was the victim of a Republican set-up in 1987. The majority of Democrats fell for it with barely a protest or note of skepticism. Yes, the “Monkey Business” was rented weth GOP funds. Yes, Donna Rice was a GOP plant. No, Gary Hart did not have sex with that woman. Yes, she now is a religious right/Fox talking head.
30 years later, this Democrat wants a President who stands up to the Donald Trumps, Richard Nixons, the Michael Cohens, Roger Stones, the Lee Atwaters, the Paul Maniforts. Kirsten Gillibrand failed the test. I don't know who my first choice is in 2020, but it sure isn’t gullible Sen. Gillibrand.
