For once, can't we have an election that's relevant to our real problems in the US?
Look. We all know that this election is going to be like every other election. The Media will narrate a horse-race. The left, right, and center people will be in the crowd cheering on, cursing, and even "putting it on the line" for one or the other horse.
In the course of the horse-race narrative, we'll find shocking and terrible things about the candidates (or at least one of them). There will be blunders and misspeakings (which "changes everything about this race!")
Of the many things discussed: emails; crackpot associations; which candidate is really toughest?; shady dealings; "compete in the global marketplace"; which nations/regions we have to fear most, and in what order we should bribe or beat the shit out of them persuade them in our interests; and whatever slogans the marketers come up with based on comprehensive profiling…
What we know will not be discussed is that the house is on fire and the dam's busted.
That is to say:
Has anybody been following the news this Century? We've been getting opposite results from the stated objectives in every place on earth we've done military action.
This whole "Aggressive War" thing has ended up with innocent people, hundreds of thousands (if not millions killed); more maimed; tens of millions of refugees; heaven knows how many miserable and deprived childhoods with shattered adults to echo through generations to come…
That's the foreigners. Our own dead, maimed, and those shaken to the core of their being number, many shaken to ruins, in our tens and hundreds of thousands.
For what exactly? So some Master of the Universe can glory in their brilliant plan? Some fool can claim an accomplishment?
Our allies are looking at us like the Crazy Uncle, who, you don't really want to be around, but then he has all the Money and Guns.
Extra bonus for all those trillions we piss away: Our enemies enhance themselves in all ways. Chaos abounds.
Meanwhile, at home, we keep getting assaults and rollbacks on the Social Safety Net. On just living in general, as everyday people relentlessly lose ground economically. But the US goes into Debt. A debt roughly equal to finance our lunatic -- and never discussed in public forums -- National Security Strategy.
Said Debt, of course, is then used to justify assaults and rollbacks on the Social Safety Net. Bringing the discussion round to the "Flimflam Finance" in the title.
At this point, I'm too tired to document what we've been through these last many years. It's all out there easily at this point.
Here is what is indisputable:
The largest financial institutes in the West have systematically engaged in multi-directional, multi-leveled fraud; rigging of prices and rates; aiding and abetting drug dealers and terrorists (that the US spends billions fighting); buying politicians; financing wars; ….
…and, the Racket goes on just as always. The only penalty is maybe having to kick a percentage of their take over to somebody.
From people, towns, cities, counties, states, nations, investment funds, etc these people have stolen TRILLIONS from, when you track it all down and count it all up, what? one, two, three hundred million people.
Again, N O B O D Y ? at all in Editorial Offices, in Political Life has anything to say about this. (Yes, there are those exceptions we can name, but then again, that they are exceptions is the point.)
And there we have the third piece: the Dagger of Corruption piercing our society. Gallup did a poll about a year ago: 79% of Americans feel we suffer from widespread corruption.
That's four of five. You'd think in a country where the people have a say, there'd be some heavy-duty reporting and political talk about widespread corruption, no?
But that the corruption is indeed widespread is why the other two issues: The War and the Flimflam Finance make no waves among our media and politicians.
Entirely disappear from Public View during Election Season. That's not government by, for, and of the people, where that kind of bull goes on, is it?
Here's all I know: if a body runs for office, and has nothing to say about the Wars, the Racketeering, and the Crookedness, they've got something else on their mind other than serving the people and the nation.
